Kids or no kids?

Most couples have very strong opinions about having or not having kids at their wedding. It may seem natural to you that they'd be there for every part of it, adding to the sense of family and celebration. Or you may despise the thought of rug rats running around interrupting the proceedings and crying throughout the ceremony. So what do you do if you don't want them there on your special day?
If you would prefer not to have kids at your wedding, you can omit their names from invitations and spread the word verbally of your preference. It is never appropriate to put "no children please" or anything similar in your invitation. If you feel it cannot be avoided or if your family includes a large number of children you may opt for backup measures -- have a baby-sitter on hand at the ceremony and reception with activities and food plans for any children that will be attending. The latter will certainly make you more popular but never forget, it is your special day so do what you want and what will make you feel more comfortable.
